Content
History
On July 24, 1846, Pope Pius IX established the Wall-Walla Diocese, separating it from the Apostolic Vicariate of the Oregon Territory (today - the Archdiocese of Portland ). On May 31, 1850, the Diocese of Nesqually (today, the Seattle Archdiocese ) was created, which transferred the territory of the Walla Wall diocese. On July 29, 1853, the Holy See issued a decree abolishing the Walla Walla diocese.
Since 1974, the diocese of Walla Walla has been the titular diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.
