Club career

Kiko’s career began at the Cadiz club; he played his first match in the Spanish League on April 14, 1991. In the first season, he played for Cadiz in only 5 matches, but thanks to a penalty scored by him, Cadiz was able to stay in the top division.

In 1993, after the departure of Cadiz to the second division, Kiko, together with his teammate Jose Maria Quevedo, moved to Atletico Madrid . In the 1990s, he became one of the most famous football players in Spain and an important link in the historical championship of Atletico in the 1995-1996 season.

After Atlético flew into the second division in 2000, and Kiko himself did not score a single goal in the last two seasons, he moved to Extremadura in 2002. Having played in this club half the season, he ended his career as a player.

In total, in the top division of Spain, Kiko played 271 matches, scored 60 goals

International Career

Kiko played 26 matches for the Spanish national team, scoring 5 goals. He played his first match on December 16, 1992 against Latvia. With the Spanish national team, he participated in the 1996 European Championship and 1998 World Cup.

At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Kiko won a gold medal as part of the Spanish Olympic team. In the final match against the Polish national team (3: 2), he scored two goals, including a winning goal in the last minute of the match.
