Biography
Born in the city of Balti in the north of Moldova. In 1986, the family moved to the city of Rybnitsa . Natalia studied at the school with the Moldavian language of instruction, studied at the music school in violin class. From the age of 12 she played at weddings.
After graduating from school, Natalia continued her studies at the Chisinau Music College. Stephen Nyagi, where she performed as part of a folk orchestra - first as a violinist, and then as a vocalist. At the same time, she tried her hand at jazz and pop music .
In 1998, Natalya graduated from a music school and began to act as a violinist in the folklore ensemble “Mugurel”. In the same year, as a singer, she takes part in three music festivals and everywhere wins prizes: the first prize of the Pop Music Festival. Mihaela Runchanu (Festivalul de Muzică Uşoară "Mihaela Runceanu"), prize of the National Pop Music Competition "Maluri de Prut" (Concursului National de Muzică Uşoară "Maluri de Prut"), Grand Prix at the Festival of Pop Music "Mamaia" (Festivalul de muicicus Préusé Muisică Uşo Macey "(Festivalul Muisicus de Mutus). “Mamaia”) in Romania .
In 1999, Natalya participated in the Vitebsk Young Pop Song Performers Contest as part of the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk International Festival of Arts ( Belarus ), where she was awarded a special diploma from the International Federation of Festival Organizations ( FIDOF ). Holders of such a diploma have the right to participate in FIDOF member festivals (for example, in the Sanremo festival) without passing through the qualifying round.
In 2000, Natalia became a member of the Millennium pop-rock group from Chisinau for a short time, but soon decided to return to her solo career. In the same year she entered the Kishinev State Conservatory. Gabriel Muzichesku , but Natalia failed to finish it because of frequent tours and performances at concerts and competitions.
In 2011 she married a Romanian millionaire - Adrian Sota. On December 25, 2011 she gave birth to a son, who was named Victor.
Eurovision Song Contest 2007
In May 2007, Natalia Barbu, with the song “Fight”, represented Moldavia in English at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 , which was held in the Finnish capital Helsinki (this year Moldova participated in the Eurovision contest for the third time). Natalia Barbu took 10th place with 109 points.
