Etymology and SystematicsThe first scientific description of this bird was made by the English zoologist Edward Blit in 1843. At first, the bird was considered a subspecies of the striped shrub - Garrulax lineatus imbricatus . In the future, scientists raised the rank to the form [1] . Studies conducted in 2009 showed that the species should be placed in a new genus - Trochalopteron [2] .
The scientific name of the species is imbricatum , derived from the Latin imbrex ( imbricis ) - shingles [3] .
