Etymology and Systematics

The first scientific description of this bird was made by the English zoologist Edward Blit in 1843. At first, the bird was considered a subspecies of the striped shrub - Garrulax lineatus imbricatus . In the future, scientists raised the rank to the form [1] . Studies conducted in 2009 showed that the species should be placed in a new genus - Trochalopteron [2] .

The scientific name of the species is imbricatum , derived from the Latin imbrex ( imbricis ) - shingles [3] .

Description

Appearance

A small bird with a body length of 19–20 cm and a body weight of 40–55 g. Brown tones predominate in color. The top of the head is darker. Near the ears are gray spots. Its gray-brown color allows masking well [1] .

Voice

It sounds like a striped shrubby voice and song [1] .

Reproduction

The breeding season is from April to June. In Bhutan, the breeding season begins in April [1] .

Power

Presumably, small invertebrates and plant foods are included in the diet of birds of this species [1] .

Spread

The bird lives in Bhutan , in the north-east of India (in the west of Arunachal Pradesh ) and in the border of southern China (in the south-east of Tibet ). It settles in tall grass and bushes. Non-migratory species, leads a sedentary lifestyle. Forms small flocks of up to 6 birds [1] .
