OSG AUG French Navy Charles de Gaulle [13] [14] [15]
Organizational consolidated aviation regiment of the Navy Charles de Gaulle ( fr. Groupe aéronaval Charles de Gaulle ) The French Navy is composed of the multipurpose nuclear carrier Charles de Gaulle , the frigate Forbin and the small frigates of the PLO Jean Bar, Duple, Aconite ", Supplemented by the Ryubi-class submarines and the Medusa supply tanker. Although in terms of the number of ships and their diversity, the French force is approaching the USA AUG , nevertheless, its capabilities are much more modest. The aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is almost three times smaller than the American aircraft carriers, and carries an air group of 30 aircraft (supplemented, however, by E-2C aircraft). The only ship with powerful anti-aircraft weapons in the formation is the Forbin destroyer frigate, which, nevertheless, is significantly weaker than the US Navy 's Arly Burke series destroyers . PLO frigates do not carry zonal (only object) air defense air defense systems .
- Multipurpose aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle with nuclear power plant
- Ryub- type submarines
- PLO division , including 2-3 frigates of the PLO type "Georges Lehi"
- Air defense division , including 1-2 frigates URO type "Kassar" or newer type "Orizon"
- Advanced guarding of the group , usually a Lafayette type frigate;
- Squadron tanker of the Durance type , usually Medusa (A 607)
- French Navy Combined Aviation Group
OSH of the French Navy Charles de Gaulle Combined Aviation Regiment
The consolidated aircraft group of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle ( fr. Le Groupe aérien embarqué, Gaé ) includes up to 35 units. French naval aircraft and is formed depending on the operational tasks set by the command of the Navy .
The “Charles de Gaulle” air group includes in various configurations:
- Fighter-interceptors "Dassault Raphael M" with the tasks of air defense grouping and gaining superiority in the air over the theater of operations (12th squadron of naval aviation of the French Navy ( fr. Flottille 12F ))
- Multipurpose fighter-bomber "Dassault Rafael M" with the tasks of direct aviation support for ground forces, as well as for tactical nuclear strikes (17th squadron of naval aviation of the French Navy ( fr. Flottille 17F ))
- Multipurpose fighter-bomber "Dassault Super Ethandar" with the tasks of direct aviation support for ground forces, as well as for tactical nuclear strikes (17th squadron of naval aviation of the French Navy ( fr. Flottille 17F ))
- Aircraft carrier-based AWACS E-2C "Hokai" with the tasks of long-range radar monitoring and control of the air situation in the area of operational responsibility of the group (4th naval aviation squadron of the French Navy ( fr. Flottille 4F )
- Helicopters MSS “Aluette III” (35th helicopter squadron of naval aviation of the French Navy ( fr. Flottille 35F )
- All-weather PSS Eurocopter AS.365 "Dolphin" helicopters (35th helicopter squadron of naval aviation of the French Navy ( fr. Flottille 35F )
- Attack and transport helicopters Eurocopter EC725 Caracal and Eurocopter AS532 Cougar (Super Puma) with the tasks of transportation and fire support of French special forces units (35th helicopter squadron of naval aviation of the French Navy ( fr. Flottille 35F )
An aircraft carrier aircraft group is formed from these naval aviation forces , depending on the task force assigned to the group. In addition to naval forces, the aircraft carrier group Charles de Gaulle can be strengthened by the attached crews and squadrons of helicopters of the army aviation or the French air force .
The maximum intensity of uninterrupted combat operations of the AG of the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier can be up to 100 sorties daily for 7 days. The number of simultaneously involved aircraft of the air group can reach 20-24 units, with an average duration of each combat mission of up to one and a half hours [16] . The take-off time using the aircraft carrier’s catapult does not exceed 30 seconds, but the deck of the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier’s deck does not allow the simultaneous take-off and landing of aircraft of the air group. The aircraft carrier is capable of carrying up to 550 tons of aviation kerosene and ammunition , which allows military service and missile and other missions to be carried away from the home port for several weeks even without replenishing aviation fuel from tankers of the group.
French Navy ISA pilots must undergo flight training at the US Navy CA stationed at the Meridian military missile aerodrome ( Mississippi ). The requirements of the training course is the implementation by cadets of ten independent take-offs and landings on an aircraft carrier, as well as mastery of air combat skills. After training at the training center of the U.S. Navy, French pilots receive insignia of US naval pilots, and upon arrival at their base, they also receive insignia of naval pilots of the French Navy.
