The stem is from 20 to 110 cm long, branched, with long, thin branches. Basal leaves. Inflorescences with 2-10 dark blue-violet flowers. Petals 7-9 (-10) mm. Follicles (6) 8-10 mm, with 4-8 seeds. Seeds 1.3-1.5 (-1.7) mm.

The species inhabits the south of the Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, northern Africa. Grows on a sandy coastline.
