In 1851 he married Matilda Wigert ( Swede. Matilda Katarina Wigert ), daughter of Lars Hurtsberg ( Lars Hjortsberg ). Son Severin ( Severin , 1852 -?).
He made his debut on stage in 1845 , performing in the play of his own authorship "En comedi" ("Comedy"). From 1845 to 1868 he played in the theater, and from 1857 he led the literary department of the theater and taught at the theater school. Leaving the theater, Yulin devoted himself entirely to literature. In 1895, a two-volume edition of Johan's Teaterstycken was published.
