Biography
In 1919, he won the Nordic Championship.
At the Summer Olympics of 1920 in Antwerp he fought in the weight category of over 82 kilograms (heavy weight). The fight, according to the tournament regulations, lasted two rounds of 10 minutes each, and if none of the wrestlers were putting out an opponent for these rounds, an additional round of 20 minutes was appointed, and after it (or during it) the victory was awarded by the judges. In some cases, to determine the winner could be assigned to another additional round, lasting 10 minutes. However, after the first day of the competition, the organizers came to the conclusion that with such a system they would not have time to hold the competition, and reduced the fight time to one 10-minute round, in which it was possible to win only on the carcass and the 15-minute additional round, after which the victory was given by decision of the judges. 19 athletes competed for medals in heavy weight. The tournament was held on the system with a knockout after the defeat; the winners in all bouts held their tournament for the first place, the losers to the champion played second place in their tournament, the losers to the lost champion played third place in their tournament. [3]
Poul Hansen in the quarterfinal was defeated by future champion Adolph Lindfors and moved to the wrestlers' tournament for second place, in which he won and won the silver of the Olympic Games.
