Ivanovo district was formed as part of the Frunze region on June 24, 1942. The village of Ivanovka was designated its center. In 1949, the district had an area of 0.9 thousand km² and included 12 village councils:

On January 27, 1959, the Frunze region was abolished and the Ivanovo district became directly subordinate to the Kyrgyz SSR. November 26, 1959, the Ivanovo district was abolished. At the same time, the Krasnorechensky, Oktyabrsky village councils and the Kalininsky village council were transferred to the Kant region , and the Ivanovsky, Son-Tash, Yuryevsky and Ken-Bulun village councils to the Chui district [1] .
