The Paraskevopoulos crater ( lat. Paraskevopoulos ) is a large ancient impact crater in the northern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the Greek and South African astronomer Ioannis Paraskevopoulos (1889-1951) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater belongs to the pre-sectarian period [1] .

Crater Description
The crater's nearest neighbors are Rowland Crater in the northwest; Carnot crater in the northeast; the crater Eno-Peltri in the east-southeast; Crater Fowler in the south-southeast; Crater Stoletov in the south-west and Crater Montgolfier in the west-south-west [2] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 98.9 km [3] , depth 2.8 km [1] .
The Paraskevopoulos crater has a close to circular shape and is significantly destroyed, its southeastern part is covered by the Paraskevopoulos H satellite crater. The inner slope is uneven in width, especially wide in the northern and southern parts. The height of the shaft above the surrounding terrain reaches 1450 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 8,600 km ³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed, with the exception of a relatively flat area in the western part. In the northeastern part of the bowl there is a prominent large crater with a sharp shaft edge and an inner slope with a high albedo ; a small rounded central peak adjoins the southwestern part of this crater.
