Location
The station is located in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon and is part of the interchange complex, which also includes the railway station. The entrance to the station is made from the Place de Paris ( Fr. Place de Paris ) [1] [2] .
Features
The station was opened on April 28, 1997 as the terminus of the continuation of line D from the station Gorges de Lou to the station Gare de Vaz. Consists of two ways and two side platforms. Passenger traffic in 2006 amounted to 366,350 people / month [1] .
The project of the station and the entire transfer complex was developed by the architectural bureau under the direction of Didier-Noel Petit ( Fr. Didier-Noël Petit ). The walls of the station are decorated with photocollections by Viktor Bosch ( fr. Victor Bosch ) under the name “Image Supplement”. The author on the explanatory tablet explains that this work of art should remind of the passing human lives [1] [3] .
Origin of title
Gare de Vaise in French means Vaz station or Vaz station . The name is given for the reason that the metro station, along with the railway station for suburban trains Lyon-Vaz, are included in a single multimodal interchange complex located in the former suburb of Lyon Vaz ( Fr. Vaise ), attached to the city on March 24, 1852 . Before joining this area to the city, there were empty, flooded meadows. The word vaise is supposed to be derived from the old French word vacua - cow, or from the word vézia or vezola - irrigation pipe [2] [4] .
