Iodai ( Heb. יְהוֹיָדָע “God cares for him”, Yehoyad ) is a high priest who rendered important services to the state and religion in the kingdom of Judah under Jehoshaphat , Joram , Ahaziya, and Joas .

He rendered especially important services to the latter, whom he saved in early childhood from the rage of Athaliah , brought up at the Jerusalem temple and elevated to the throne. Until the age of majority, the king was regent. Under the influence of Iodai, all reforms in the state and religious life of that time took place; but with his death all good undertakings collapsed.
Iodai died 130 years old and was buried in the royal tomb (4 Kings XI and XII).
Although the Encyclopedia of Brockhaus and Efron calls Yodai the “high priest,” he is only known in the Bible as a priest . Josephus also does not mention Jodiah on the list of high priests (Jewish Antiquities 10: 151-153).
