John was born in Moscow and was a parish priest, famous for his virtuous ministry, and at the end of the 17th century, he was appointed by Tsar Peter I as priest of the court church and elected clergy of the tsar and the ruling house. In 1701, under a false denunciation of relations with Gregory Talitsky, he was exiled to the Solovetsky Monastery , where he took monastic tonsure with the name of Job (in honor of the Long-suffering Job ). In 1702, the monk moved to the Anzersky skete , where, shortly after the death of Eleazar Anzersky, he became the prior.

In 1710, Job accepted the great schema named Jesus. In 1714, he left Anzersky Skete and together with his students founded the Golgotha-Crucifixion Skete . In 1715, a wooden church was built in honor of the Crucifixion of the Lord in the monastery by the forces of the inhabitants.

The Monk Job died on the week of the Celebration of Orthodoxy on March 6 ( 17 ), 1720 .

Canonization and the acquisition of relics

He is canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church for general church worship at the Bishops' Council in 2000 . His name is included in the Cathedral of the Solovki saints .

After construction in 1828 in the Golgotha-Crucifix monastery of a stone church in honor of the Crucifixion of the Lord, the relics of Job rested under a bushel in the chapel in honor of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. On June 11, 2000, the relics were found and placed in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, the Anzersky Skete.
