The file manager was created by the programmer of MNIOPK Demos Sergey Vakulenko in 1989. [2] Supports Russian and English. It was written in C language. Used to date.
The first Unix systems worked exclusively in command line mode, which was rather inconvenient compared to file managers already existing in MS-DOS at that time. Therefore, the emergence of a file manager for Unix was only a matter of time. Of course, the quality of Demos Commander was limited by the capabilities of the terminals that were used on the first computers running OC Unix, for example VT220 . But subsequent versions of this line of terminals could already display vector graphics and had a color display.
