The 299th Assault Aviation Division was formed on November 8, 1942 by order of the USSR NKO as part of the 3rd Assault Aviation Corps of the Supreme Command Headquarters Reserve.

The 299th Assault Aviation Division for the exemplary performance of command assignments and the courage and heroism shown by this order was renamed [1] . August 19, 1944 in the 11th Guards Nizhyn Assault Aviation Red Banner Order of Suvorov Division.
