The 299th Assault Aviation Division was formed on November 8, 1942 by order of the USSR NKO as part of the 3rd Assault Aviation Corps of the Supreme Command Headquarters Reserve.

The 299th Assault Aviation Division for the exemplary performance of command assignments and the courage and heroism shown by this order was renamed ^[1] . August 19, 1944 in the 11th Guards Nizhyn Assault Aviation Red Banner Order of Suvorov Division.

• The 218th Slutsk Red Banner Assault Aviation Regiment was renamed the 173rd Guards Slutsk Red Banner Assault Aviation Regiment ^[1] .
• The 431st Slutsk Red Banner Assault Aviation Regiment was renamed the 174th Guards Slutsky Red Banner Assault Aviation Regiment ^[1] .
• The 874th Slutsk Red Banner Assault Aviation Regiment was renamed the 175th Guards Slutsk Red Banner Assault Aviation Regiment ^[1] .

• The 299th Assault Aviation Division to commemorate the victory won by the battle for the liberation of the city of Nezhin was given the honorary title “Nezhinskaya” ^[5]
• The 41st Assault Aviation Regiment for its courage and heroism in the battles for the city of Voronezh was given the honorary title Voronezh ^[6] .
• For the courage and heroism shown during the liberation of Slutsk on July 5, 1944, the 218th Assault Aviation Regiment was given the honorary title "Slutsky" ^[7] .
