History
Such devices, consisting of cables or ropes and blocks , placed between two points, and using the force of gravity for transportation, have been known to people for a long time. They were often used in rough terrain to transport people and goods through canyons , rivers, and impassable areas in remote areas of China, the Costa Rica rainforest, and Australian sparsely populated areas.
Similar devices and devices in different countries were called differently: in the Alps they were called the Tyrolean crossing ( English Tyrolean crossing, Tyrolean traverse ), in other places a flying fox ( English Flying fox ) or a strong inclination ( English inclined strong ). In Herbert Wells' novel "The Invisible Man" of 1897, a "strong tilt" is mentioned as part of the Day of Spirits. [3]
