Biography

At the 1906 Summer Olympics in Athens, he fought in the weight category up to 75 kilograms (light weight)

Little is known about the regulation of wrestling competitions in these games. Competitions were conducted according to the rules of Greco-Roman wrestling, with no time limit for the bout; three wrestlers who reached the final played medals among themselves in their weight categories. The winners of their categories played the absolute championship among themselves. 12 athletes fought for the lightweight medals; Rudolf Watzl , Carlsen and Hungarian Ferenc Holuban reached the finals. Carlsen lost to Watzl in a 40-minute heavy fight, but defeated Ferenc Holuban, thus remaining a silver medalist.

In 1907 he was fourth at the unofficial European Championships and fifth at the World Championships. [four]

He participated in the 1908 Summer Olympics , performed in the category of up to 66.6 kilograms (light weight). Having won one and lost the second fight, he left the tournament, sharing the ninth place with eight wrestlers.
