Story

Cyrene Walker ( Luke Newberry ) is a former zombie, a person suffering from partial death syndrome. Among other deceased, he came to life and turned into a walking dead man, and then was hospitalized. There he was treated, provided with cosmetics to mask signs of decomposition and sent home to his family. Kiren’s relatives live in the town of Roarton, where the echoes of a terrible battle with the risen dead are still audible, and most of the townspeople are not ready to accept yesterday's fierce enemies. Urban neighborhoods are patrolled by volunteers who shoot or find zombies for profit, and a local pastor sets up gullible people against the “partially dead”. He claims that there are no former zombies, and those who return from the other world, no matter how well they behave, must be destroyed ...

Cast

  • Luke Newberry - Kiren Walker [3] , the protagonist of the series, one of the former zombies who returns to his parents' house after rehabilitation. Depression due to the loss of his best friend and romantic interest forced the 18th Cyrene to commit suicide. After returning, he feels guilty for the perfect, as well as for the killings that he committed in a frantic state. He later begins a relationship with Simon Monroe.
  • Emily Bevan - Amy Dyer , died of leukemia at the age of 21, subsequently becoming a zombie. He is friends with Cyrene and tries to convince him that their condition is a gift. He does not feel guilty for murders committed in a frantic state, claiming that "most people live in anticipation of death." In the second season, partly comes to life, due to which Maxine Martin was killed, who received information that Amy was probably the first person who returned to life.
  • Harriet Keynes - Jamie " Jam" Walker , Cyrene's sister and member of the local militia. Reluctantly accepting Cyrene's return, although he continues to patronize him. It was difficult for him to die, since they were very close.
  • Marie Critchley - Sue Walker , mother of Cyrene and Jamie.
  • Steve Cooper - Steve Walker , father of Cyrene and Jamie.
  • Emmett Scanlan - Simon Monroe , the first undead on whom treatment with "neurotriptin" had any effect. After his success led to the successful development of the drug, he became one of the very first people who were rehabilitated. In a frantic state, he killed his mother, because of which, after returning, his father did not accept him. Arrives in Roarton to search for the "first resurrected", where he maintains a relationship with Amy. In the second season, Simon has feelings for Cyrene, thanks to which he puts Cyrene's well-being above his desires.
  • Stephen Thompson is an adviser to Philip Wilson , who later gets into trouble when he announces his romantic affection for a girl with SES and, as a result, significantly reduces his chances of climbing the political ladder. He later reveals his feelings for Amy Dyer and they subsequently begin a relationship.
  • Wunmi Mossaku - Maxine Martin , Honorary Member of the Parliament of Roarton. Like members of her party, she does not believe that former zombies are real people, and she is very pleased to pursue a new aggressive government policy, in which patients are considered "second-class citizens." She secretly studied the mythology of the "Prophet of the Undead" and became interested in the idea of a "Second Rebellion." Hearing the prophecies of the ULA, she hunts for the First Risen One in the hope of killing him or her and provoking a Second Uprising that will bring back to life her brother, who died in childhood.
  • Kevin Sutton - Gary Kendall , second commander and then HVF commander in Roarton after the death of Bill Macy. I met with Jamie Walker, but after the betrayal, which caused her brother to suffer, she breaks up the relationship.
  • Ricky Tomlinson - Ken Burton , a local who seems to initially dislike former zombies, but it turns out to be just a facade, part of his futile attempt to hide the fact that his wife is one of them. His inability to hide this ultimately leads to her death at the hands of Bill Macy. At the beginning of the second season, he was killed on a train.
  • Steve Evets - Bill Macy , Head of HVF. He is Rick's father and Janet's husband. Bill found out about his son’s romantic relationship with Cyrene and forced him to join the army to share them. Bill was indirectly responsible for the death of Rick and Kiran. During the Pale Wars, he destroyed many "rotters", but when his son returned, he could not accept it and treated him as if he were still alive. Bill is forced to confront his feelings due to the fact that he sent his son to death, the same-sex novel of his son and his return.
