Club career

Richard Kutan began playing for the Vienna Rapid in 1906 at the age of 15. In 1911, Rapid took part in the first draw of the Austrian championship . Kutan was appointed captain of the team (he held this position for the next fourteen years). The young striker quickly became the team's leading scorer. Largely thanks to his goals, Rapid achieved outstanding success, winning seven championship titles from 1911 to 1923 and winning the Austrian Cup twice (Kutan scored in both finals). In the seasons of 1915/16 and 1921/22, Kutan became the top scorer of the Austrian championship, having formed an attack line with Joseph Uridil in the attack.

In November 1925, the 34-year-old Kutan moved to the Wacker club, but after a season and a half he returned to Rapid. Before the end of his career, he managed to once again win the Austrian championship, as well as two times to reach the final of the Mitropa Cup . In total, Richard Coutan played 268 matches for the Vienna club, scoring at least 178 goals [1] .

He died on February 10, 1958. He was buried in the Baumgarten cemetery in Vienna .
