Mosen ( German: Mosen LU ) is a village and former commune in Switzerland , in the canton of Lucerne . The population was 284 people in 2007 . The official code is 1035 . On January 1, 2009, together with the communes of Gelfingen , Rechville , Hemikon , Muswangen and Sulz, it became part of Hitzkirch , Hochdorf County.

In the elections in 2007, the Swiss People’s Party received the largest number of votes (38.9%), 27.2% voted for the Christian Democratic People’s Party , and 28.1% voted for the Free Democratic Party.

Geographical position
Mozen's area was 1.6 km². 70.9% of the area was agricultural land, 15.2% - forests, 11.4% of the territory inhabited [1] .
History
First mentioned in 1045 as Moseheim . In 1264 - Mozheim [2] .
On May 21, 2006, an unsuccessful attempt was made to unify Hitskirch with the next ten communes, in a vote of 5 out of 11 voted against the merger [3] . Later, there was a proposal to merge only seven communes ( Gelfingen , Hemikon, Mozen, Muswangen , Rechville, Hitzkirch and Sulz ), which was adopted [4] . The united commune had an area of 24.62 km² [5] .
Population
As of 2007, the population of Mozen was 284 people. 90.2% of the inhabitants speak German, 2.8% speak Albanian, 2.0% speak Turkish. In 2000, 31.5% of the population were under the age of 19 years, 58.7% - from 20 to 64 years old, over 64 years old there were 9.8% of the population. In 2005, the Mozen unemployment rate was 1.13% [1] .
