Georgy Georgievich Zhemchuzhin ( May 6, 1929 , Astrakhan , RSFSR , USSR - April 9, 2015 , Moscow , Russian Federation ) - Soviet and Russian conductor , conductor of the Bolshoi Theater (since 1955), the Moscow Academic Musical Theater. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko (since 1960), Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1978).

Biography

Born in Astrakhan. In 1952 he graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory (teacher N. S. Rabinovich ), in 1954 - graduate school at the Moscow State Conservatory with B. E. Khaykin .

From 1952 to 1953 he worked as a conductor of the symphony orchestra of the Yaroslavl State Philharmonic . In 1954–1960 he worked as a conductor at the State Academic Bolshoi Theater.

Since 1955 - Conductor of the Bolshoi Theater, since 1960 - Conductor of the Theater. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko. Pearls G.G. was the musical director of such productions as the opera “Whirlpool of Life” by E. Sukhonya, “Cola Brunion” by D. Kabalevsky; the ballets “Don Juan” to the music of R. Strauss, “Gayane-suite” by A. Khachaturian, “Coppelia” by L. Delibes, “Shakuntala” by S. Balasanyan, “Don Quixote” by L. Minus, staged by the theater master choreographer Alexei Chichinadze . For many years, Georgiy Georgievich conducted the opera "Eugene Onegin", staged by K. S. Stanislavsky in the Theater. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko.

He also conducted the ballets “The Seagull” and “The Lady with a Dog” by Rodion Shchedrin, “The Death of a Rose” to the music of G. Mahler, staged by Maya Plisetskaya . He collaborated with foreign troupes "Tokyo-ballet" (Japan), "Ballet Bellas Artes" (Mexico), a ballet troupe of the Roman Opera, and was the conductor of the performance of the French ballet Nancy "Sylphide" by J. Schneitzhofer.

Took part in staging numerous ballet performances:

  • in the Bolshoi Theater - The Seasons, Peter and the Wolf by S. S. Prokofiev, and the Dance Suite by D. D. Shostakovich (all 1959);
  • in the theater to them. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko - “Masquerade” by L. A. Laputin (1961), “Don Juan” by R. Strauss (1962), “Poem” by S. F. Tsintsadze (1964), “Coast of Hope” by A. P. Petrov (1965), “Enlightenment” by Yu. M. Butsko (1974), “Dreamers” by Shostakovich (1976), “Stepan Razin” by N. N. Sidelnikov (1977), “Don Quixote” (1981), “The Little Humpbacked Horse” R.K. Shchedrin (1983), “Optimistic Tragedy” M. B. Bronner (1985), “La Sylphide” by X. Levenchöll (1986), “Scythians” by Prokofiev, “Swan Song” by E. Chausson, “Cowboys” J. Gershwin (all 1988), Corsair, Walpurgis Night (both 1989), Giselle (1991).

He went on a well-deserved rest in 2014. He died on April 9, 2015 in Moscow.

Awards and titles

Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1978).

Awarded the Order of Honor (1999).
