The news of his life is limited by assumptions, but reliable data from historical monuments indicate that he was an employee of King Simeon in his educational activities. He owns the translation of The Theology of John of Damascus into Slavic, as well as Six Day (interpretation of the first chapters of the book of Genesis ). In compiling this work, John used the writings of Severian of Gewalski , St. Basil the Great and John Chrysostom , as well as Aristotle , Plato and others.
The oldest Shestodnev surviving list was made in 1263 by Theodore Grammatik in the Chilandar Monastery and is now kept in the State Historical Museum [3] . John also translated into Slavic the Greek grammar of John of Damascus, “Dialectics” (“Philosophy”) of the same Damaskin and several “Words”. As can be seen from some places of the Six-Day, John belonged to the most learned people of his time; He knew Slavic, Greek and Jewish languages, had deep knowledge in the books of Holy Scripture and knew both the creations of the Holy Fathers and the philosophers of Ancient Greece .
