Description

Small myrmycin ants. The length of the body is 3.9-4.0 mm, the length of the head is 1.1 mm (width is 1.01-1.08). The posterior margin of the head is concave. The main body color is blackish-brown (except for yellow scapus tendril and paws; mandibles are brown). The antennae of females and workers are 12-segmented with a club of 3 segments (in males, the antennae are 13-segmented). They have 4 maxillary palps and 3 labial palps. Stinging grooves, with 6 teeth on the chewing edge. The head is massive, the posterior lateral edges are angular. Pronotum with lateral teeth on shoulder protrusions. The posterior breast is unarmed, without propodeal teeth or spines. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, pupae are naked (without cocoon). The species was first described in 2013 by Austrian entomologists Herbert Zettel ( Herbert Zettel ; Naturhistorisches Museum Vienna , Vienna , Austria ) and Harald Bruckner. The species is named after Silvia Bruckner [1] [2] .
