Description
Large digging wasps : from 20 to 21 mm (female) and from 23 to 24 mm (males). The main body color is black. Presumably, like other members of the Sphex genus , their larvae are fed with paralyzed insects (they are catching orthoptera ) and nest in the ground. The species was first described in 2015 by German entomologists T. Dorfel ( Thorleif H. Dörfel ) and M. Oleh ( Michael Ohl , Museum für Naturkunde , Berlin , Germany ) [1] .
