Kondakovia longimana (lat.) - a type of large squid from the Onychoteuthidae family. Its mantle reaches a length of at least 85 cm, and its intravital dimensions are estimated at 1.15 m [1] . The largest whole specimen of squid of this species with a total length of 2.3 m was caught in the Antarctic in 2000 [2] . The polar shark and the Atlantic herring shark prey on K. longimana . It makes up about 21% and 19% of the total mass of cephalopods absorbed by these sharks [3] .

Description
The distinguishing feature of K. longimana is 33 hooks and marginal suckers on trapping tentacles in immature individuals. Gladius squids of this species are invisible under the skin along the midline of the back. K. longimana has three occipital folds [4] .
Spread
K. longimana lives in the epipelagic and mesopelargic waters of the Southern Ocean . It lives in the near-pole zone, which extends northward to South Georgia and the Tasman Sea [5] .
Typical representatives of this species, in the amount of three pieces, were caught at the surface and at a depth of 50 m, north of the South Orkney Islands [6] and stored in the Zoological Museum of Moscow State University [7] .
