Life
Since Andronic was born already when his father Alexei ruled Byzantium, he was called Porphyrogenite - "Crimson".
Together with his mother Irina Dukina and sister Anna, he opposed the fact that his older brother John was the co-ruler of their father. They wanted to see the husband of Anna Nicephorus Vrienny at this place. Alex did not want to quarrel with them and in 1111 granted Nicephorus the title of Caesar .
Andronicus died in Asia Minor. Empress Irina and Nicephorus Vrienny accompanied his body from the Asian coast to Constantinople .
