Biography

Born September 21, 1957 in Zvenigorodka, Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR . After two years of work at the city household appliance plant in Smela in 1976, he entered Odessa State University to study law . Already in 1980, he worked as an assistant prosecutor of the Central District of Odessa. In 1982, Yuri Karmazin was appointed assistant prosecutor of the Odessa region . Having worked in this position for two years, he was appointed deputy special prosecutor in Odessa. From 1985 to 1992, Y. Karmazin worked as the prosecutor of the Primorsky district of Odessa. In 1993, he was elected a judge of the Odessa Regional Court.

Since the early 1990s, Y. Karmazin began to participate in political life. In the parliamentary elections in 1994, he was elected People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from Primorsky No. 299 of the single-member constituency (60.29% of support in the second round). Since then, Karmazin has not worked as a judge and has completely gone into politics. In the parliamentary elections in 1998, he was again elected to the Verkhovna Rada from single-member constituency No. 134.

May 22, 1999 Y. Karmazin was elected head of the Party for the Defense of the Fatherland . He holds this position to this day. On October 31 of the same year, he participated in the first round of the presidential election . On them, he took 10th place out of 13, gaining 90,793 votes (0.35%).

In the winter of 2000-2001, Y. Karmazin took an active part in the action "Ukraine without Kuchma . " In 2002, he acted as a lawyer for the Russian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin [1] .

In the parliamentary elections on March 31, 2002, Y. Karmazin spoke at number 17 on the electoral list of the Our Ukraine Party Bloc and was elected to the Ukrainian parliament for the third time [2] .

In 2005, Yuri Karmazin, in an interview with the Bulvar newspaper, stated that he was opposed to Prime Minister Yanukovych and would not live with him in one country. In the same interview, he told how a certain higher power descended on him, which gave him instructions for future activities [3] [4] .

Despite his good relations with Our Ukraine (a member of its faction until May 2006) in the March 26, 2006 parliamentary elections , Y. Karmazin headed the election list of the Yuri Karmazin Bloc . Since the election block was lost, the politician did not go to the Verkhovna Rada either.

March 26, 2006, Yuri Karmazin participated not only in the parliamentary elections, but also in the elections of the Kiev mayor. On them, he took fourth place, gaining 5.45% of the vote.

On September 30, 2007, Y. Karmazin took part in the parliamentary elections at number 58 of the electoral list of the Our Ukraine - People’s Self-Defense bloc of parties and was elected to the Verkhovna Rada for the fourth time.

In the 2012 elections to the Ukrainian parliament, Karmazin did not participate, as he was refused registration [5] .

In early 2013, Karmazin, through a court, deprived the deputies of their deputies Pavel Balogu and Alexander Dombrovsky , who refused to join the Party of Regions , which was why the opposition accused him of collaborating with the government [6] [7] . The politician himself accused the opposition of conspiring with the government and the Central Election Commission [6] . After the victory of Euromaidan , on February 22, the Verkhovna Rada reinstated Dombrovsky and Baloga as deputies [8] .

After the change of power in Ukraine in 2014, he accused the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko of unlawful election, he also accused the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and several other politicians of corruption [9]

In November 2015, he joined the leadership of the Radical Right Forces [7] movement, the former organizer of the anti-government protest in February 2016, the headquarters of which was located in the Cossack Hotel [10] . The participants demanded the resignation of the government, President Petro Poroshenko, the release of political prisoners [11] , they themselves were accused of destructive and provocative actions beneficial to the Russian media and the authorities of the Russian Federation [12] [13] [14] By the end of the month, the protests stopped [2] .

In February 2016, Karmazin became one of the organizers of the movement “Revolutionary Right Forces” [15] , who tried to organize the “Third Maidan” and called for the overthrow of the existing government.

In January 2018, Yuri Karmazin held a press conference at which he presented documents allegedly confirming the relationship between ICU and the American financier, deputy chairman of the inaugural commission of Donald Trump Eliot Brody. The ICU denied this information and sued Karmazin for defamation [16] .

In May 2018, Karmazin proclaimed himself [17] to be the hetman of the Cossacks throughout Ukraine.

In 1987–1991 rendered considerable assistance in legal protection and in providing premises for a number of charitable institutions of the first non-governmental charitable organization in the USSR - the Social Assistance Fund named after Dr. F. P. Haas [18] [19] [20] [21] .
