Biography
Duke Ulrich is the fifth child of the Duke Philip of Württemberg and his wife Maria Theresa of Austria . Ulrich's older brother Albrecht was the heir to the throne in Württemberg. After graduating from school, Ulrich joined the Württemberg army and received a military education in Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg . In 1903 he received the rank of captain , in 1908 he became a major , in 1911 - a lieutenant colonel and in 1913 - a colonel . In 1910-1914, the Duke of Ulrich commanded the Ulan Regiment named after King William I. During the First World War, Ulrich Wurttemberg commanded the 27th and then the 16th Cavalry Brigade. In 1917, with the rank of major general, he commanded the 26th division.
Ulrich Württemberg never married. He was a member of various public associations, including the Württemberg Military Union and the German Colonial Society .
