The 65th European Weightlifting Championships took place from May 7 to 11, 1986 at the Stadthalle Sports Palace in Karl-Marx-Stadt ( GDR ). The tournament was attended by 127 athletes from 22 countries. Athletes were divided into 10 weight categories and competed in the biathlon ( jerk and push ).
