Biography

In 1845-1849 he studied chemistry at the University of Zurich . Later he worked as an assistant in the chemical laboratory of the University of Leipzig, in 1851 he became a doctor of philosophy , in 1852 - a habilitated doctor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Leipzig.

In 1850-1860 - co-editor of the pharmaceutical journal Zeitschrift fur Pharmacie and the annual Jahrbuchs der Erfindungen und Fortschritte

In 1867, he accepted the citizenship of the Saxon kingdom . From 1880 he represented the interests of Switzerland in the German Empire , as consul of the Saxon states.

In 1890 - founder and member of the company for the production of chemical and technical products in Leipzig , invented a number of objects and tools of laboratory equipment. He received a patent for smokeless combustion of combustible gases and vapors of lighting material for all types of lamps of Argant .

He taught chemistry at the University of Leipzig, gave lessons in the field of natural sciences at several schools and institutes in Leipzig.
