Aresh County

Areshsky Uyezd is an administrative unit of the Elizabethpol province . The administrative center is the town of Agdash .

Content

History

The county was formed in 1873 as part of the Elizabethpol province as a result of disaggregation. After the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan, Aresh district began to be called Agdash [2] . Agdash county was liquidated in 1926 .

Population

According to the 1897 census, 67,277 people lived in the county, including 528 in the town of Agdash .

National composition

The national composition of the census of 1897 [3] :

  • Azerbaijanis (Tatars) - 47,133 people. (70.1%),
  • Armenians - 13 822 people (20.5%),
  • Lezgins - 5,869 people. (8.7%).
