Career

Asdis Hyalmsdouttir began performing at the international youth competitions in 2001. In 2005, she reached the adult level and won three medals at the Games of small European states , of which two are of the highest standard.

In 2008, Iceland made her Olympic debut, performing in javelin throwing . Her performance was unsuccessful: in the first two qualifying attempts, she made an intercession, and in the last attempt she threw a spear at only 48.59, which brought her only the 50th place out of 54 athletes.

At the 2009 and 2011 world championships , Asdis was not able to overcome the qualification barrier, although in Daegu she became thirteenth in qualification, only half a meter from overcoming the qualification.
