Career
At the age of 17, under the guidance of the honored trainer of the RSFSR Artyom Mikhailovich Agaskov, he became a master of sports. Record holder of the RSFSR in decathlon, javelin. The only one of all jumpers in the world has won the triple Olympic champion Viktor Saneev at the competitions more than once.
In 1968 he became the two-time champion of the European Junior Athletics Games : in the triple jump (15.94 m) and in the long jump (7.78 m).
Member of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich (1972). With the result of 16.30 m he took the ninth place.
Winner of two indoor European championships: in Turin (1973) - bronze and in Gothenburg (1974) - silver. Winner of the Universiade in Moscow (1973).
Champion of the USSR (1972). Silver medalist of the USSR Championship (1973). He left the sport after a car accident.
He graduated from the Department of Aircraft Engineering of the Kuibyshev Polytechnic Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as the deputy head of the technical service department "Kraybyttehnika". Then he taught at the Department of Athletics of the Krasnodar Institute of Physical Culture, while simultaneously graduating from the State Central Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Culture . He worked on television, commented on the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow (1980).
