History
On the site of a modern church in the 15th century , the Cetinje Monastery was founded with the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, completely destroyed by the Ottomans in 1692 . In 1701-1704, Metropolitan Danilo revived the monastery, moving it a little to the side.
In 1886, on the spot where the former Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was located, a modern church was erected by the Prince of Montenegro Nicholas I [1] .
In the church are the tombs of King Nikola I and his wife Milena [1] .
