Geography
Schaffhausen is the northernmost city of Switzerland. This is one of the few cities in the country located north of the Upper Rhine. Southwest of the city is Europe's largest Rhine Falls . The city consists of the following quarters: Old Town (Altstadt), Bright, Emmersberg, Hochstrasse / Geissberg, Niklausen, Buchthalen, Herblingen, Hemmental.
Climate
Schaffhausen is located on the edge of the Swiss plateau in the temperate zone. The average rainfall is 863 mm per year, which is quite low for Central Europe and one of the lowest in Switzerland. The long-term average duration of sunshine is 1345 hours per year.
Transport
Connected by a railway line from Zurich to Ulm in Germany . At the central station, you can buy tickets at the ticket offices of the Swiss railways, as well as German DBs ( Deutsche Bahn ).
History
In 1944, during World War II, Schaffhausen was bombarded by the US Air Force (according to the American side, by mistake, since the city was located near the border with Germany).
