Located in the northwestern part of the Jutland peninsula , on the banks of the Skivefjord, which is part of Lim Fjord , at the mouth of the Karup-O River Skive is located 29 km northwest of Viborg ; 36 km northeast of Struer ; 40 km northeast of Holstebro ; 51 km north of Herning ; 92 km south-west of Aalborg and 94 km north-west of Aarhus .
