Oliver Taylor Hawkins ( born Oliver Taylor Hawkins ; February 17, 1972 ) is an American musician best known as the drummer of the rock band Foo Fighters .

Career
Early career
After leaving Sylvia (after being renamed ANYONE), he joined Sas Jordan, after which he joined Alanis Morisette as a drummer. Hawkins appeared in Morissette's music videos “ You Oughta Know ” and “ You Learn ”.
Foo Fighters
After a tour in the spring of 1996, the group stopped at a Seattle studio to record their second album with producer Gil Norton. However, the drummer of the group, William Goldsmith, left the band after a conflict with frontman Dave Grohl . The group moved to Los Angeles , where they re-recorded most of the album with Grohl on drums. The album, titled The Color and the Shape , was released on May 20, 1997. Soon, Grohl contacted Hawkins to advise someone to replace the drummer. Grohl was surprised when Taylor offered himself. After listening, Hawkins joined the group.
In addition to his participation in Foo Fighters as a drummer, Hawkins is a vocalist who plays guitar and keyboards. He first performed with the group as a vocalist in a cover of Pink Floyd, “Have a Cigar” . Hawkins also sang in the song "Cold Day in the Sun" from the album In Your Honor , which was later released as a single, and in a cover of Cream , " I Feel Free ", which was later included in the single of the single "DOA" and to the Five Songs and a Cover mini-album. In concert performances, Taylor usually provides backing vocals or acts as a vocalist and plays the guitar when Grohl sits down at the drums.
Other projects
In 2006, Hawkins founded a third-party project called Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders , releasing an album of the same name.
In 2007 at a Live Earth concert, Hawkins joined the SOS Allstars super-band, performing with Roger Taylor of Queen and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers .
Hawkins performed drum parts in Coheed and Cambria 's Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow album, when the group's regular drummer, Chris Penny, was unable to record the album. Taylor also stayed on tour with the band. Hawkins and Grohl participated in the recording of the third-party project Harmony & Dissidence by Chris Shiflett (also a member of Foo Fighters), Jackson United .
Hawkins took part in recording the song “Cyborg” on Brian May’s solo album, Another World , and also at the 2006 VH1 Rock Honors channel concert while Queen performed We Will Rock You . Both he and Dave Grohl played drums. They also performed the song “ Tie Your Mother Down ” at a concert in Hyde Park where Taylor sang.
In 2008, on the Queen + Paul Rodgers The Cosmos Rocks album in the song C-lebrity, Taylor sings on supporting vocals. The song was released on the single, entered the Top-40 of the English charts and the first place in the charts among rock performers. He is the only guest musician on the album recorded by Roger Taylor , Brian May , Paul Rogers .
Taylor completed the unfinished recording of Beach Boys , “Holy Man,” writing and singing new words. The recording was released in June 2008 as part of the gift edition of Dennis Wilson's solo album, Pacific Ocean Blue (1977).
When Foo Fighters were on vacation, Hawkins took part in the Chevy Metal band, performing covers of little-known songs ZZ Top , Aerosmith , Deep Purple and Black Sabbath .
Taylor Hawkins took part in the recording of Slash 's solo album, released in 2010, recording the song “Crucify the Dead” with Ozzy Osbourne .
Impact
Hawkins claims to have become a drummer under the influence of Roger Taylor of Queen and Stuart Copeland of The Police .
Taylor is also a fan of U2 .
