Golice ( Czech: Holice or Holice v Čechách , German: Holitz ) is a city in the district of Pardubice in central Bohemia .

The city is located 16 km east of Pardubice on the main road between Hradec Kralove and Svitavy .

The population is 6 531 inhabitants (01/01/2015).

The city has 7 administrative districts: Samotne Golice, Stara Golice, Podhrazh, Rivne, Kamenets, Podlesi and Kudelka.

Content

History

First mentioned in 1336 as a settlement belonging to King Johann of Luxembourg . The status of the city received in the XV century. Even then, a rathouz or town hall was built in the city.

In the XIX century, a sugar refinery worked here. The population was mainly engaged in the manufacture of shoe products and trade in agricultural products.
