Biography
He started wrestling in 1905 at the Revel Athletic and Cycling Club. Continued in the sports society " Sanitas " (St. Petersburg) [1]
Before the First World War, Oscar Kaplyur was one of the most famous fighters of the Russian Empire. At the 1911 World Cup, he was fifth. At the unofficial European Championship of 1912, he won gold, winning seven fights. At the Russian Championship in 1912, he also won gold.
He became a member of the Russian Empire team at the Olympic Games in Stockholm.
In October 1913, he won the Nordic Championship in Copenhagen.
In 1913-1918 he played in the United States and even became the champion of North America.
In 1918 he returned to Russia, where for a long time he worked in various positions in the defense industry, was an inventor. In particular, he built boats from “caplurite”, plasticized wood reinforced with a metal mesh, for the Glavsevmorput [2] .
He died in Moscow at the age of 73.
