Content
History
According to the law of May 17, 2013 and the decree of February 14, 2014, the number of cantons in the Atlantic Pyrenees department decreased from 52 to 27. The new territorial division of the departments into cantons entered into force during the 2015 elections. Thus, the canton of Anglet was created on March 22, 2015 [3] [4] .
Policy
According to the law of May 17, 2013 [3], voters of each canton elect two members of the general council of a department of different sexes during the election. They are elected for 6 years by a majority of votes based on the results of one or two rounds of elections [5] .
In the first round of the cantonal elections on March 22, 2015, 5 pairs of candidates ran for Anglet (turnout was 48.42%). In the second round on March 29, Patrick Chasseriero and Nicole Darras were elected with the support of 56.84% for 2015-2021. Voter turnout was 49.18% [6] .
