Otto of Hesse-Kassel ( German Otto von Hessen-Kassel ; December 24, 1594 , Kassel - August 7, 1617 , Gersfeld ) - Crown Prince of Hesse-Kasselsky , administrator of the imperial abbey Gersfeld, viceroy of his father in Upper Hesse .

Biography
Otto is the eldest son of the Landgraf Moritz of Hesse-Kasselsky and his first wife Agnes Solms-Laubach , daughter of Count Johann Georg Solms-Laubach . Otto, along with his brothers and sisters, received a home education. At the age of 10, Otto was appointed administrator of the Gersfeld Abbey. Having completed his education at the University of Marburg , Otto took an educational trip , visited London and Paris . When the crown prince returned to his homeland, his father was involved in state affairs.
In the heat, a sick rubella prince tried to shoot a barking dog right from his hospital bed. The shot was fired so unsuccessfully that the bullet went through the left half of the chest. Otto was buried in St. Mary's Church in Marburg.
Marriages and Descendants
On August 24, 1613, in Kassel, Otto married Ursula Catherine of Baden-Durlakhskaya (1593-1615), daughter of Margrave George Friedrich of Baden-Durlakhsky . After the death of his first wife, Otto married in Dessau on June 14, 1617, to Agness Magdalen of Anhalt-Dessau , daughter of Prince Johann George I of Anhalt-Dessau . Both marriages remained childless. Otto had an illegitimate son, Ernst Reinhard von Hattenbach (1617–1694).
