History
The Seinaoen Yalkapallokerho football club was created on the basis of the merger of the two TP-Seinajoki and Sepsis-78 football clubs. Starting from the 2008 season, the club took part in the league Kakkonen (third division), where he played for four years, taking places in the middle of the table. In the 2011 season, the SIK won the Kakkonen league without a single loss and moved up to Jukkönen (second division).
In 2012, the SIC made its debut in the Yukkönen League, where the team performed very convincingly, taking 2nd place and losing only to the League favorite RoPS . SIK striker Tony Lehtinen with 12 goals scored became the league's second scorer. In September 2012, Simo Valakari was appointed head coach of the team, only three years ago he ended his career as a player in TPN , and since 2011 he worked as a coach in the youth team of Finland until the age of 18. For the 39-year-old coach, the SIC became the first club as the head coach.
In the offseason, the club made a number of serious acquisitions, inviting several foreign players from near and far abroad, and thereby significantly strengthened the team. Thanks to close cooperation with the Academy of the Spanish " Barcelona ", some players from the academy of the Spanish club joined the SIC. At that time, Estonian goalkeeper Mihkel Aksalu was signed from Tallinn Flora , and in a short time he became the club's main goalkeeper and team leader. After such an active transfer policy, the SIC was clearly considered by all as the main contender for promotion.
The 2013 season the CIC began very convincingly, issuing an eight-match win-win series.
However, the dominance of the legionnaires in the team once turned sideways: on June 30, 2013, after an overwhelming guest victory over the outsider of the AC Kayani league, the hosts decided to protest the result of the match due to the limit on legionnaires allegedly violated by the SIC, allowing eight legionnaires on the field. The Finnish Football Federation acknowledged the violation and upheld the complaint of AC Kajaani, awarding the SIK a technical defeat with a score of 0: 3 . Disagreeing with this decision, the SIK appealed the decision of the Federation. As a result , the Finnish Football Federation upheld the appeal and quashed its previous decision. The club was returned three points. AC Kayani filed a complaint with the Finnish Sports Council, but later changed his mind and dismissed the appeal.
Then followed a disastrous performance in July: 3 losses and 2 draws. But the club spent the ending of the season at an accelerated pace: from August to the end of the season, the SIC issued a series of eight victories in a row. The club approached the key match for the first place with “ Haka ” with a five-point lead over the main competitor, and a draw ahead of schedule sent the SIC to Veikkausliga . September 29, 2013, having gathered a record audience of 4,798 spectators at the Seinäjoki home stadium, the NEC achieved the desired result by tipping 1: 1 and ahead of schedule took first place in the league. Thus, on the second attempt, the SIK won the Jukkönen League and for the first time in history entered the Finnish Premier League .
The season of 2014 began for the team very successfully. On March 29, 2014, the SIK won the Finnish League Cup , beating the UPU in the final with a score of 1: 0. This cup was the first trophy in the club’s short history. Having won the Finnish League Cup and significantly strengthened before the start of the season, the SIC was rightly perceived as one of the favorites of Veikkausliga and one of the contenders for the prize three. Nevertheless, the season for the SIK did not start in the best way, at the end of May the club went on the penultimate 11th place and had only 2 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses. However, since June, the club has issued an impressive series of seven consecutive victories, and in the end won the silver of the championship, taking the final second place , a point ahead of the third Lahti . The national champion was expected to be the HIK , who had an overwhelming advantage over the rest of the championship throughout the season. One of his three defeats in the season, HIK suffered from SIK 0: 2. It is noteworthy that since June and at the end of the season of the 24 remaining matches in Veikkauslig SIC suffered only two defeats. The most important role in the final victory was played by Estonian goalkeeper Mihkel Aksalu , who became the best goalkeeper of the season, and Ivorian defender Cedric Gogua was recognized as the best defender of Vejkausliga-2014 . The best young player of the league was the 23-year-old club midfielder Johannes Laaxsonen, and striker Axel Pelvas in conjunction with Tony Lehtinen became the team's top scorers, scoring half of the team’s goals for the season for two. Having taken the final second place in his debut season in Vejkausliga , SIK became the main opening of the last football season of Finland.
In 2015, the SIC significantly increased in the offseason and signed a number of qualified players during the season. The main objective of the club was the acquisition of experienced and promising Finnish football players, as well as several legionnaires from countries near and far abroad. The most noteworthy are the leases of Brazilian Allan , a Brazilian, and Roope Risks from the Norwegian Haugesund , who significantly strengthened the squad and became one of the team leaders, in the SIC of the 18-year-old pupil of the Liverpool Academy.
Given the game crisis of the Finnish champion of recent years, HIK, the exception due to serious financial problems of many strong teams of Veikkausliga, having no significant staffing problems and received a solid gain during the season, the SIK took full advantage of the leader's misfire, confirming the claim to the championship from the first rounds. The team’s impressive game in attack, where the main striking power was Roepe Risky and Axel Pelvas, who became the team’s top scorer for the second year in a row, reliable defense played, the newcomers Jussi Vasara, Mehmet Hetemai , Allan and Cameroonian Ariel Nguekame became perfectly fit into the composition and strengthened the team’s game the key to the success of the team in the season.
On September 23, in a match of round 29, a curious incident occurred: the Brazilian midfielder Allan, leased from Liverpool, scored a HIK from a corner kick [1] .
On October 25, 2015, the SIC defeated the outsider Yaro with a score of 2: 0 and in his second year in Vejkauslig and for the first time in his history became the champion of Finland in football [2] .
On March 19, 2016, the SIK lost to Lahti in the League Cup final 0: 1 (3: 4 - on a penalty spot).
In July 2016, the SIK made its debut in the qualification of the Champions League 2016/17 season , where in the sum of two matches lost to the Belarusian BATE 2-4 [3] .
On September 24, 2016, the SIC won the Finnish Cup by beating 2-1 in the HFC finals. The main and extra time ended in a draw 1: 1, and in the penalty shootout, the SIK players were more accurate (7: 6).
According to the results of the 2016 season, the SIC took 3rd place in Veikkauslig .
In the offseason, the head coach Simo Valacari left the team, he was replaced by Sisten Bostrom, who was fired in May 2017 and replaced by Jose Manuel Roca, who was also fired in September 2017. Played out the season with SIC Brian Page and Tony Lehtinen. SIK took 6th place. In the Finland Cup 2017, the CEC reached the final again, where it lost to HIK 0: 1.
In October 2017, Tommy Kautonen was appointed as the club’s head coach with a three-year contract. However, the 2018 season began for the SIC unsuccessfully, so Kautonen was fired in May 2018. The new head coach was Alexei Eremenko Sr. At the end of the season, the SIC took 9th place. This was the most disastrous season in the history of performances in Weikkauslig.
