Moritzona Toritsa , or Spring Toritsa [2] ( lat. Spergula morisonii ) is a species of dicotyledonous plants of the Toritsa genus ( Spergula ) of the family Carnation ( Caryophyllaceae ). First described by the French botanist Alexander Boro in 1847 [3] [4] .

Distribution and habitat
Known from Austria , Belgium , Bulgaria , the Czech Republic , Slovakia , Denmark , Finland , France , Germany , the Netherlands , Spain , Hungary , Italy , Portugal , Norway , Poland , Romania , Sweden , the Baltic countries , the European part of Russia and Algeria . Entered in the UK ( England ) and the USA ( Maryland , Massachusetts , New Jersey ) [5] .
It grows along the sandy roadsides, on disturbed places at an altitude of 10–100 m [6] .
Botanical description
Stem 5–35 cm high, often branched in the central part of the plant [6] .
The leaves are usually flat [6] , simple, placed opposite [2] .
Flowers with five [2] ovate petals [6] .
The fruit is a box [2] ; seeds are lenticular with appendages in the form of wings from light brown to brownish black [6] .
It blooms in spring and early summer [6] .
The number of chromosomes - 2n = 18 [7] [6] .
Environmental situation
Listed in the Red Book of Estonia and the Red Books of the Kaliningrad Region and the Republic of Karelia (Russia) [2] .
