“Friends in Low Places” is an American country music song by Garth Brooks , released as the 1st single from his second studio album No Fences (1990). The songs were written by Devine Blackwell and Earl Bad Lee. The single for 4 weeks led the American country hit parade, becoming the third leader for Brooks in the chart after “ If Tomorrow Never Comes ” and “ The Dance ”, and the first of four charttoppers from his second album. Over 8 weeks the song reached the first place, remaining at No. 1 for four weeks and becoming one of the most successful country songs of the year [1] . The song won the ACM Awards Academy of Country Music in the prestigious category “Best Single of the Year” (Single of the Year) [2] . In 2003, the song took the 6th place in the list of CMT 100 Greatest Songs of Country Music [3] and the number 1 place in the list “Which song is best to drink in the morning” ( 40 Greatest Drinking Songs: Morning After ) [4] .
