Biography
Victor Friedrich is the son of Prince Karl Friedrich of Anhalt-Bernburg and his wife Sophia Albertina Solms-Sonnenwald (1672-1708), daughter of Count George Friedrich Solms-Sonnenwald. In the years 1717-1718, the prince went on a grand tour of France, he inherited his father in Anhalt-Bernburg in 1721. He served in the Prussian army with the rank of captain and captain, and was awarded the Order of the Black Eagle .
Victor Friedrich showed particular interest in mining and metallurgy , often visited the Harz mines. Since 1724, the prince of Anhalt-Bernburg was the sole owner of mining in the Harz, his name was a silver smelter. The prince has acquired numerous estates. In 1752, an uprising broke out in Anhalt-Bernburg against the princely hunt. In 1755, Victor Friedrich became the head of the Anhalt House.
In Bernburg, Victor Friedrich erected a government building in 1745, and in 1752 a church on the mountain. He developed the infrastructure of the city and unsuccessfully tried to breed silkworms in the principality. The seven-year war plunged the principality into a financial crisis.
Family and Descendants
On November 25, 1724, at the Dessau Palace, Victor Friedrich married Louise of Anhalt-Dessau (1709-1732), daughter of Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Dessau . The young princess died a month after the birth of their first child. On May 22, 1733, Victor Friedrich married in Potsdam for the second time, choosing Albertine of Brandenburg-Sweden (1712-1750), daughter of Margrave Albrecht Friedrich of Brandenburg- Sweden , as his wife. Two months after the death of the second wife, Prince Victor Friedrich concluded on November 13, 1750, a third, already morganatic marriage with Constance Schmidt. In 1752, Constanta gave birth to a daughter and received the noble title von Ber.
