Biography
Andrew Trim was born on December 30, 1968 in Sydney . He began to actively engage in rowing in early childhood, and was trained at the Wynnam Redlands Sports Club.
He achieved the first serious success at the international level in 1992 when he joined the main team of the Australian national team and, thanks to a series of successful performances, was granted the right to defend the honor of the country at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona . He started in twos with his partner Daniel Collins at distances of 500 and 1000 meters, in the first case he reached only the semi-finals stage, while in the second case he dropped out of the fight for medals after the preliminary round. Being one of the leaders of the Australian rowing team, he successfully qualified for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , in a pair with the same Daniel Collins won a bronze medal in the half-kilometer kayak-twos race, losing only crews from Germany and Italy at the finish.
Becoming the bronze Olympic medalist, Trim remained in the main team of the Australian national team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1997, at the World Championships in Canadian Dartmouth in twos, at five hundred meters, he defeated all his rivals and received a gold medal. Two years later, at a similar competition in Milan, he added to the track record a bronze medal won in a double kayak for half a kilometer distance. He represented the country at the 2000 Sydney home Olympics - this time, along with Collins, he won silver at five hundred meters, letting forward only titled Hungarian rowers Zoltan Kammerer and Botond Storz . Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete, giving way to the team of young Australian rowers.
A graduate of the Australian Institute of Sports, subsequently worked in real estate. As a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland , in 2006 he ran for parliament from the state of Queensland, but lost the election to another candidate from the liberal party.
