Vladimir Nikolaevich Apatsky (born August 29, 1928 , Minsk ) is a Soviet and Ukrainian bassoon player, art critic, professor at the National Music Academy , People's Artist of Ukraine (1996) [1] .

Biography
Born on August 29, 1928 in Minsk ( BSSR ). At the age of four, he was left without a father.
From childhood, he played folk instruments (guitar, mandolin), later improvised the piano, and played the trumpet in an amateur orchestra. In 1944 he entered the Belarusian Polytechnic College and the Minsk Music College, which he graduated in 1948. In the same year, he simultaneously entered the Belarusian State Conservatory (bassoon class) and the Belarusian State Polytechnic Institute (energy faculty). However, studying in two educational institutions was too difficult. The Polytechnic Institute left a year later, and graduated from the conservatory (class A. S. Kondrashov) in 1953 with honors. In 1956 he graduated from the graduate school of the Leningrad Conservatory. Rimsky-Korsakov (headed by G.Z. Yeryomkin ).
In 1951-1953 he was a soloist in the symphony orchestra of the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the BSSR , the next two years he was a soloist in the symphony orchestra of the Leningrad Maly Opera and Ballet Theater , in 1955-1957 he was a soloist in the Leningrad Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and in 1957-1981 he was a soloist in a symphony Orchestra of the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. T. G. Shevchenko , a teacher at the Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky (since 1967).
Author of methodological works “Dynamics in playing the bassoon” (1967), “Some questions of perfect performance on wind instruments”, “ Bassoonist 's ear- cushion”; monographs, among which are “Methods of teaching the playing the bassoon,” “Theory of performance and methods of teaching the playing of wind instruments”, “The history of wind musical and performing arts”; 60 scientific and methodological works on the methodology of modern teaching and teaching playing the bassoon and more than 100 art history articles, in particular on the history and development of wind performance in Ukraine and the USSR . The scientific interests of Vladimir Apatsky include the acoustic nature of wind instruments, the anatomical and physiological basis of the performing technique of the oven, the formulation and development of performance components, and the like.
In 1989, he published a collection of articles “Theory and practice of playing the wind instruments”, which included articles by Ukrainian and Russian leading educators E. Nosirev, K. Mulberg, E. Surzhenka, M. Pushechnikova, I. Yakustidi. Materials of the collection provide information on a wide range of issues of history, theory and practice of playing wind instruments.
Laureate of the 2nd prize of the Belarusian competition of wind musicians (1952), laureate of the 1st prize of the All-Union Festival of Soviet Youth (1957).
As the accompanist of the bassoon group in the symphony orchestra of the Kiev State Opera and Ballet Theater, Vladimir Apatsky became a model of skill and responsibility. The sound of his bassoon is light, flexible and quite expressive. Orchestral, solo parts always performed very moderately phraseologically and dynamically. He achieved particular skill in the ballets of P.I. Tchaikovsky . He recorded about 40 records, including solo ones, there are a large number of stock records of his performance.
Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR [2] , People's Artist of Ukraine (1995), Doctor of Art Criticism (1993), Professor of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P.I. Tchaikovsky (1986), corresponding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts (1997). He trained more than 70 laureates of competitions, among his graduates Yu. Dondakov, A. Klichevsky, M. Kostyuk, T. Osadchy and others. Vice-President of the Union of Ukrainian Musicians-Ossists, member of the International Association of Wind Instruments ( English International Double Reed Society ). Member of the jury of many music competitions: D. Bida International Competition for Young Woodwind Performers ( Lviv ), “Surma Bukovyna” International Competition for Young Wind Performers and Percussion Instruments ( Chernivtsi ), “Classic Meridian” ( Kiev ), International Music Competition named after Vyacheslav Starchenko ( Rivne ) and others.
He was awarded the Order of Merit, II (2011) [3] and III (2006) [4] degrees, “For Courage”, III degree (1999), the Medal “Defender of the Fatherland” (1999), the ASU Gold Medal “for outstanding achievements in musical art ”(2008).
