Biography
Raul Contreras was born in Kohuttepec on May 3, 1896. In the diplomatic service was the ambassador of El Salvador in Madrid and Paris. During the Second World War he was forced to move with his family to the south of France.
In 1947 - 1950, under the pseudonym Lydia Nogales published the first poems in periodicals of San Salvador. Together with Alberto Guerra Tigeros and Ricardo Tigeres de Leon he founded the House of Culture in San Salvador. He became a member of the Salvador Academy of Language. In the 1950s, he was president of the National Tourism Board. With it, numerous tourist centers and popular parks were built, which continue to operate today, including the Balboa, Los Chorros, Apulo parks and the mountain hotel in Cerro Verde.
After his death in Madrid on December 2, 1973, his remains were buried in the Garden of Poets, in the tourist center of Los Chorros.
