Geography
It bordered on the Petrovsky district in the north-east, Meleuzovsky in the south, Sterlitamaksky in the north-west. There were 18 village councils, 105 rural settlements in the district.

History
Established Aug 20 1930 as Verkhotorsky district from the volosts of the Sterlitamak canton , from October 15 1930 - Torsky district. Abolished on February 20, 1932, the land became part of the Meleuzovsky and Petrovsky districts .
Economics
The basis of the economy was s. household specialized in cattle breeding of the meat and dairy direction, cultivation of grain crops, fodder crops, sunflower. Horticulture, fishing, beekeeping are well developed. A collective farm, a furniture factory, 34 comprehensive schools, a central district hospital, 5 medical posts, 3 reading rooms were recorded.
