The comonym

Content

Komonim (from other Greek. Κώμη - village, village, village + other Greek. Ὄνομα - name, name) - a kind of oikonym . The proper name of any rural settlement. Examples: d. Dyudkovo , p. Spasskoye-Lutovinovo , village of Kozino , pos. Verbilki , s. Kolomenskoye [see 1] . Comonyms are an integral part of toponymy , which is one of the sources of historical, natural-scientific, ethnographic and linguistic information.

Very often, the historical names of streets in large cities lead to the names of villages and settlements located once on this site; merging with cities, they gave names to the newly formed streets. So, the structure of Old Moscow , for example, included 98 villages: Kozhevniki , Syromyatniki , Povarskaya , Myasnitskaya , Bronnaya , Meshchanskaya , Yamskaya , etc., adding their names to its urbanonymy [see 2] .

For example [see 3] districts of the Yaroslavl region ( [1] , [2] , [3] , [4] , [5] , [6] , [7] , [8] , [9] , [10] , [11] , [12] , [13] , [14] , [15] , [16] ) let us consider the methods for the formation of hagiotoponyms directly from hagionyms [p. 1] . The category of hagiotoponyms stands out in toponymy, in particular, to distinguish between anthropotoponyms , since the names of people can coincide with the names of saints.

As a rule, a church received its name either in honor of a saint , or in memory of some church event or Bible holiday. Many names of this type have been preserved.

Most of the comedies were formed from ecclesionyms [p. 2] . All of them appeared as a result of affixation , and the comedy was created from the hagionym underlying the ecclesionym : hagionym → ecclesionym → hagiocomonym . For example, (hagionym) St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker → (ecclesionymus) church in the name of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker → (comedian) the village of Nikolskoye. One of the most revered saints in Russia was Nicholas the Miracle Worker, therefore his name is often found in the basis of comedians who received their name from the name of the temple. On the territory of Russia there is practically no city where there would be no church or chapel consecrated in the name of Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The Yaroslavl region is not an exception to this rule: about 30 comedic characters dating back to the Hagionym Nikolai the Miracle Worker are noted on its territory:
